Introduction of the Genghis Khan Mausoleum: |
The present Genghis Khan's Mausoleum was built in 1954 in Erdos City, Inner Mongolia. about 185 km from Baotou City. Most people, however, believe that this mausoleum is not where he was really buried but is rather a gathering place for Mongolians to offer sacrifice to the spirit of Genghis Khan. Whether this is true or not, Genghis Khan's Mausoleum remains a sacred place with great significance for Mongolian people. |

Genghis Khan was an outstanding military strategist and statesman of Mongolian. After uniting, organizing fragmented Mongol tribes, as he was named supreme leader of the Mongols in 1206. Having forged a Mongol nation, Genghis Khan turn to bloody military campaign to conquer other countries and his territory extended to Central Asia and South Russia. 1226, Genghis Khan led armys to subjugate the kingdom of Xixia in which he died of disease the next year. and when the Yuan Dynasty was founded, Genghis Khan was conferred posthumously as Emperor Taizu. |

Genghis Khan Mausoleum consists of mainly a row of three yurt-shaped palaces with domes of glazed yellow tiles bordered with blue, white walls and vermilion gates. that is a corridor connects the three structures. |
