Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is the earliest autonomous region in China. Its the widest province in China. Its the third largest Chinese province (over 1.1 million square kilometers or 424,736 square miles) but not very populated. and the Inner Mongolia has about 24.3 million inhabitants. Hohhot is the capital of Inner Mongolia.
 
Situation
It is situated in the north of China. To the northwest, Inner Mongolia is bounded by Russia and the Republic of Mongolia. To the south, east and north, is bounded by Gansu Province, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjina Province. The altitude of the Inner Mongolia Plateau is about 1000 meters, and It is also a rich-energy area.

Weather & Temperature
Mongolia is very different climate during the year. Winter is cold and can be very long, with frequent blizzards. Usually summer is short & warm. The annual rainfall is 80-450 millimeters. The main feature of the climate here is that the different in temperature between days and nights is very big, so tourists should wear layer of clothes when traveling here.

As Inner Mongolia has a peculiar natural scenery, long history and brilliant culture. many natural beauty vast grasslands, including Xilamuren Grassland, Gegentala Grassland and Huitengxile Grassland. Some of the key historic sites such as: the Mausoleum of Jenghiz Khan, the Wudangzhao Monastery, Dazhao Temple, Zhaojun Tomb, Wanbu Huayanjin Pagoda. and the most famous deserts including the Badain Jaran Desert, the Tengger Desert and the Kubuqi Desert.

   

Grasslands & Lakes & Forests
There are prosperous forests, endless grassland, rich farms, broad water, various animals and plants and countless treasures underground on this extensive land. People call the wide and shallow basin there as Tala. In the area of Hulunbeier Lake and Xilinguole River, that is the endless grassland. In the west Alashan, deserts and salt water lakes are distributed. To the east, its the famous forests of Great Xinganling. To the southeast of Great Xinganling, there is the rich Liao River Plain. In the middle of Inner Mongolia Plateau, is famous of Yin Mountain and it is branch Daqing Mountain. Their altitudes are both above 1,500 meters. the Shannan Yellow River areas and Dahei River areas is the rich Hetao-Tumochuan Plain. To the south of Hetao-Tumochuan Plain, there is the well-known Ordos Plateau.

 
Inner Mongolia is a rich - energy area. The amount of coal is the second in China. And the industries in Inner Mongolia are full of the characteristics of pastoral areas. They are tightly related with wool spinning, leather, milk, national handicrafts.
