Xiamen is a tourist city of Fujian Province famous for its attractive seascape. It covers an administrative area of 1,565 square kilometers with seven districts and has a population of 1.27 million.
 

Situation
Xiamen is situated on the Southeast coast of China and to the west of the Taiwan Straits. Known as one of the earliest treaty ports opened to foreign trade in the Chinese history, Xiamen is also an important window to foreign exchange at the present time. Xiamen has been famed as a hometown of overseas Chinese with 400,000 overseas Chinese of Xiamen descent, chiefly distributed in such nations or territories as Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hongkong, Macao.

Weather & Temperature
Because Xiamen has a subtropical monsoon climate, the weather is mild and pleasant most of the year. In this case, the whole year round is good time to visit Xiamen except that typhoons influence the weather four to five times during the months from July to September. The annual temperatures of Xiamen average 21C and rainfall abounds mainly in the months from May to August.

Travel in Xiamen
Being of a subtropical monsoon climate with mild weather all year round expect the typhoon months, Xiamen is an ideal tourist destination for you. It is a typical littoral city with abundant tourist attractions such as islands, mountains, temples and parks, etc., providing you with a full sightseeing schedule. The well-known Gulangyu Island, Nanputuo Temple and other tourist areas like Jimei, Wanshiyan, etc. are highly recommended. A sea tourist line is also available for you to enjoy the amazing scenery of many beautiful small islands around.

   

Transportation
Xiamen enjoys convenient transportation. You can go there by air, by train, by coach or by sea. The transportation within the city is also satisfying.

By Air - Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) is one of the busiest airports in China. It is located at the northeast end of Xiamen just 10 kilometers from the city center. Over 50 domestic airline routes connect Xiamen to 58 cities in China.

By Train - Xiamen Railway Station, located at the intersection of Xiahe Road and Hudong Road. Connected to the mainland by the transportation trunk line of the Ying-Xia (Yingtan-Xiamen) Railway Line across the Xiamen Bridge, Xiamen has direct trains to most of the main cities in Fujian Province including Fuzhou, Sanming and Zhangzhou. Trains also depart for most major cities in China.
