Situation
Zhangjiajie City there are four areas under its governance: Yongding District and Wuling District, Cili County and Sangzhi County. It is subtropical moist mountain climate, thus for tourists it is an ideal place to spend one's holiday. Zhangjiajie features a variety of different terrains including: mountainous regions, upland areas, plains, and Karst rock areas. Among these, the mountains cover 76 percent of the total area.

Zhangjiajie city is situated on the semitropical monsoon humid climate zone with a modest climate, The annual average temperature is 16.8C (about 62F), so the climate is always comfortable. In spring, all the flowers on mountains blossom and mountains are luxuriantly green. In summer the forests flourish and are strongly fragrant. Autumn is a romantic season and visitors who come to Zhangjiajie can appreciate a sense of poetry at this time. In the winter, visitors can marvel at the evergreen trees amongst the snowy landscape.

Transportation
Transportation in Zhangjiajie is very convenient. The highways extend in all directions, and it is worthwhile to mention that a superhighway connects Changsha and Zhangjiajie.
By Air - Covering a total area of over 2,700 mu (445 acres), Hehua Airport has served over 50 destinations to mainland Chinese cities, Hong Kong, Macau, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Xian, Shenyang, Tianjin, Nanjing and Changsha.
By Train - There are two railway stations in Zhangjiajie. One is a small station located in Cili County which is used for local traffic. The other is the main Zhangjiajie Railway Station located in Yongding District, 12 kilometers from the city center. From Zhangjiajie more than ten big and middle-sized cities in China can be reached. |
