Miaofeng Mountain Scenic Area is located in Mentougou District and about 53 kilometers from Beijing city center. It is belong to Taihang Mountain Range, the main peak of the mountain is 1,291 meters above sea level, and this is the highest peak standing closest to Beijing.

Covering an area of 20 square kilometers, Miaofeng Mountain is known for its ancient temples, weird pine trees and strange rocks, there are rich biological resources, with the forest coverage at more than 90%. This area is one of the key regions for the protection of biological diversity in the Beijing area, and there is also a huge rose plantation, with an area of about 660 hectares, the largest in north China.

Miaofeng Mountain hosts the largest traditional temple fair in north China, and this tradition started in the Ming Dynasty and is still preserved nowadays. During the temple fair each year (from April 1 to 15 in the lunar calendar), hundreds of thousands of devotees from across the country flock to the Buddhist temple to worship and offer sacrifices, and hundreds of folk performances are staged during this period, and the scene is very spectacular each year.

Miaofeng Mountain is named the birth place of Chinese folk customs and culture and is known as the cradle of China's folklore, and in 2005, a China folk customs stele was erected at Miaofeng Mountain to mark its contribution.
