Jiuzhaigou, Located in the north of Sichuan Province. Jiuzhaigou County is part of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. Situation
Lying on the highest tableland in the world between the Sichuan Basin and the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Jiuzhaigou Valley covers altitudes ranging from 2,000 meters to about 4,300 meters. With its large number of lake groups, waterfalls and rich variety of endangered plants and fauna, Jiuzhaigou was awarded the status of UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve in 1997 and was also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. |

Elevated at a height of about 3,000 meters, Jiuzhaigou is influenced by the typical highland humid climate. As a result, this area is frequented by mild temperatures and extremely variable weather all year round. Therefore, several warm outfits are necessary during your trip here. Transportation
The construction of the Jiuhuang Airport in Chuanzhusi Town and a new road link between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou has meant that the journey to Jiuzhaigou has become a great deal easier for today's traveler.
Chengdu remains the starting point for visitors to Jiuzhaigou, as there is no direct plane or long-distance bus service to the region from elsewhere within China. The city itself can be easily arrived at through international and domestic flights or by train and long-distance bus services.
By Bus - Although even with this new link - Jiuzhaizhou Ring Way, the journey time by road is still 10 hours. Fortunately, the beautiful natural scenery along the route is such that it is easy to forget the immediate surroundings of coach or bus.
By Air - For those visitors who want to save time on travel there is the Jiuhuang Airport, located in Chuanzhusi Town. First opened in 2003, it takes just 40 minutes to fly between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou. |
