If you plan on staying in Beijing for a long period of time, It would highly reccomend it as a good source of exercise. First, because in the morning the haze and the heat are less and it is just easier to breathe, and second because it seems like it would be a good way to meet the locals and learn about the culture.

Needless to say, in the morning, you can find people doing the most popular Chinese Tai Chi or chi gong almost anywhere. and there also in Beijing parks or street fill up with locals performing traditional activities: the flag dances, playing JIAN (Hackey-Sac China Style), group sing-alongs, kick boxing, Broadcast gymnastics, Pet bird, sometimes even Western ballroom dancing, or other types of activity.

Today, the Chinese government mandated a 5-day workweek. Most Chinese now work Monday through Friday. The workday begins about 9 am, sometimes later, enabling thousands of Beijingers to do their morning exercises, the locals usually doing at 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. |

It's rather common place to see in the morning people exercising in parks or even on the street. the most famous parks is Temple of Heaven park, Jinshan park, Taoranting park, Tuanjiehu park, and Temple of earth park.
And the feature morning exercise streets such as the Qianmen street, Donghuamen street and so on. Just go to a park early in the morning! |
